Genie Stewart-Spears has been photographing horses, pets and people since 1984. The sport of endurance riding has occupied a major part of her time as she has been the Official Photographer for such rides as the Race of Champions, Pan American and North American Championships, World Championship, Old Dominion and Biltmore Challenge, to name a few.
Genie writes and photographs for magazines such as Arabian Horse World, Equus, Western Horseman, Horse & Rider, Endurance News, The Chronicle of the Horse and Trail Rider. She has photographed for books, websites, advertisements and brochures.
Although Genie has competed in over 3,000 miles of endurance and competitive trail riding, competition hasn't been possible because of the direction her work has taken. Nevertheless, she rides every chance she gets, trail riding on her mule, Arc'o Zeb, Spotted Kentucky Mountain mare, Fergie, and, last but not least, Titan Missle her gorgeous, nearly-16-hand Arabian gelding. Between working and riding, she hikes with her dogs -- and camera -- in the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois.
Genie and her husband Ken, who also photographs, reside in Vienna, Illinois, on their 80-acre Runamuck Ranch.
